First Dance Feature – Kate and Nick

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

When choosing a first dance song, there are so many great options!  Couples should ultimately pick a song with lyrics that are meaningful to them.

Kate and Nick danced as husband and wife for the first time to “Songbird” by Fleetwood Mac.

Songwriters: MCVIE, CHRISTINE
Written by Christine McVie
For you, there’ll be no more crying, For you, the sun will be shining, And I feel that when I’m with you, It’s alright, I know it’s right
To you, I’ll give the world To you, I’ll never be cold ‘Cause I feel that when I’m with you, It’s alright, I know it’s right.
And the songbirds are singing, Like they know the score, And I love you, I love you, I love you, Like never before.
And I wish you all the love in the world, But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing, Like they know the score, And I love you, I love you, I love you, Like never before, like never before

A Chic Affair, Washington DC Bridal Show

Monday, April 1st, 2013

On Sunday, March 24th Chris Laich Music Services participated in the wonderful bridal show A Chic Affair.  We were thrilled to join some of the best Washington DC area wedding professionals, as well as provide music (including our Bose wireless speakers and wireless microphones for the event).  The event was hosted at Georgetown’s newest venue  Powerhouse from Rise Events.  Powerhouse is a modern space in the heart of Georgetown; the building is located between the Georgetown Waterfront Park and the M Street shopping area.

A Chic Affair was one of the best bridal events we’ve participated in this year!  It was wonderful to speak one on one with couples and hear about their engagements and planning.  The show included a select group of wedding vendors , a “question-answer” expert panel, a live bridal fashion show, delicious appetizers, cocktails and a gentlemen’s lounge (with beer, hair cuts and more).

Here are some photo highlights from Rodney Bailey.  We always love working with Rodney and his team who were at A Chic Affair to capture everything.

Unveiled 2013

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

This past Sunday, Chris Laich Music Services participated in Washingtonian Bride & Groom’s  annual bridal show Unveiled, at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC.  We are thrilled to have been apart of the spectacular bridal show and amazing runway show with gorgous wedding fashion from Carine’s Bridal Atelier.  Every year, this show is better than the last, and this year is no exception.  The “best of” wedding professionals in DC were there with an unbelievable set-up by Chicka and Digital Lightning, and incredible floral work by Edge Floral Event Designers.  We are so thankful to Chicka for helping with our booth as well!

Here are some of the highlights of the bridal show, additional photos available via Washingtonian Bride & Groom.

We were honored to have Chris Laich Music Services provide the music, sound and (of course) our Bose wireless speakers for the fashion show.  Everything looked and sounded phenomenal.  Bridal gowns from Carine’s, Carl Ray makeup, Hair by Giselle and runway production by the Aba Agency brought it all together for the perfect culmination of bridal style.

Wedding at Springfield Country Club – Meredith and Brandon

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

Held at Springfield Country Club on a gorgeous day in June, we were honored to be a part of Meredith and Brandon’s wedding day.

Not only are they such a sweet couple who, as you can see by these amazing shots by Rodney Bailey, are very much in love, but their guests were dancing fools!

We had a blast keeping the music going all night long.

Father-Daughter Dance Feature {Ellie}

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

Father-Daughter dance songs range from sweet classics to fun and modern, and almost always get everyone feeling sentimental. For her dance with her father at her wedding at The Top of the Hay, Ellie chose “Free Fallin’” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

You might remember from her wedding that Ellie, a Memphis native, had a surprise guest appearance by Elvis at her reception. And though Tom is not from Memphis, he did meet Elvis at the age of 10, and because of the King fell in love with rock music!

Wedding at the Top of the Hay – Ellie and Danny

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

We saw Elvis at the Top of the Hay!

He must have heard that Ellie, a native of Memphis, was celebrating her marriage to Danny and felt a surprise performance was in order.

Honestly, we can’t say we blame him – Ellie and Danny are such a wonderful couple, full of love for one another! After the newlywed’s first dance to “Everything” by Michale Buble, and somewhere before their cake was cut, Ellie and her friends Lexy and Michelle (the Sweet Signature Singers) along with guitarist Any Walker performed “Walking in Memphis” for Danny…and then Elvis appeared! He sang a few songs, posed for some fan pictures, and headed back to Graceland.

Then, everyone spilled onto the dance floor and danced all night to Bob Seger, the Rolling Stones, Otis Knight, Michael Jackson, UB40, Lil Jon, Britney Spears, LMFAO, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Avicii, Beach Boys, Katy Perry and more – what a crazy, fun crowd!

Wedding at the Top of the Hay – Jessica & David

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Over the summer, we had the honor of deejaying Jessica and David’s wedding at one of our favorite DC venues, Top of the Hay.

Their first dance to Elvis Presley’s “Cant Help Falling in Love” was spectacular, and after Jessica’s Father Daughter dance to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, everyone spent almost the entire night on the dance floor. Jessica and David’s photographer, the amazing Rodney Bailey, sent over his images of the wedding, and we couldn’t wait to share them.

We love the first dance sequence shots – they totally capture the happy couple’s energy!

Best wishes, Jessica and David!

First Dance Feature – Tom and Ashley

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Choosing a first dance song is such a personal thing, and over the years, Chris Laich Music Services has deejayed Washington, DC area weddings, we’ve covered almost every genre.

It’s always fun to see what every couple we work with picks! We thought it would be nice for planning couples to see what tunes others have stepped out on the dance floor to for their first official dance as a married couple.

Thus inspired, we’ve created a new “First Dance Feature.” A few times a month, we’ll profile Chris Laich Music Services couples and share their first dance song choice with you, starting with Tom and Ashley.

Tom and Ashley celebrated their marriage at the Washington Golf Club, and chose “Sea Breeze” by Tyrone Wells, a sweet, folk-pop song with really romantic guitar.

Gary, a documentary photography associate at Rodney Bailey, did an amazing job capturing the moment!

Meet Photographer Rodney Bailey

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Rodney Bailey’s  professionalism and skill  have made him one of Washington DC’s (and beyond) most sought after photographers.  It is a pleasure to have the chance to chat with him and learn more about his business.

Rodney Bailey

CL: What led you into wedding photography?

RB: An interest at the age of 12 when I purchased my first camera, which led to taking photos of everything.

CL: What is something unexpected you have learned (or learned about yourself) from owning your business?

RB: That it is a challenge to run a business that you don’t love. That’s why I am so fortunate to have a love and a passion for the artistic side of photography, and also for the business side.

CL:  So true.  Share with us one technique you use to relax (or relax your clients) during a wedding?

RB: It’s simple: stay relaxed yourself and that will help the client relax.

CL:  Very sound advice for any one in the industry! What do you wish you could shout from the rooftops about your business?

RB: No rooftops! Just a whisper in all of the clients’ ears looking for a true photojournalist…”you have found one”

CL: What is the most unusual request you have ever had?

RB: A circus wedding! The couple got married under a big-top circus tent with regular audience members. It was in the middle of a circus that they had their ceremony. And the elephants lived happily ever after.

CL:  Wow! Sounds totally unique, fun, and challenging. So glad the elephants had a fairytale ending! What is your favorite first dance song?

RB: It changes so often but I think it’s best when it reflects the clients’ tastes and it works for them.

CL: What is your favorite moment to capture at a wedding?

RB: The entire story from start to finish. Being a photojournalist, it’s all about the prep, details, the real moments that occur during the entire day.

CL: Where do you stand: the Rolling Stones or the Beatles?

RB: I’m Elvis.

I love it when I learn something new about someone! Elvis is the King!

Thank you for your time, Rodney!
