2011 Washington Bride & Groom Unveiled Event

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Honored with Washingtonian Bride & Groom’s “Top Vote Getter” in the DJ category for 2010, all of us at Chris Laich Music Services couldn’t wait for Unveiled 2011, Bride & Groom’s annual wedding showcase!

Without question, the event lived up to its reputation as the premier bridal event in DC. The Vera Wang show was just beautiful, and the area’s top wedding professionals did a fantastic job providing couples with advice and inspiration. Everything from the marvelous confections by Kendall’s Cakes (another “Top Vote Getter”) to the event design displayed by A. Dominick Events and Beehive Events was really spectacular.

We were thrilled with how the Chris Laich Music Services lounge turned out! Complete with cozy seating area and flat screen TV displaying our new montage video, it was the perfect setting to chat with couples who stopped by.

A huge thank you to the planning couples we met and to THE amazing wedding photojournalist Rodney Bailey for sharing his shots of the event with us!

Any vendor who is on site working at a wedding will tell you that one of the many exciting moments during the event is seeing the bride in her gown! Even after all these years of deejaying weddings and events in the DC area, it’s something I always look forward to.

Once something unusual, we’ve been spotting more brides changing into another dress for her reception. We’re all for a wardrobe change, especially when the intention is usually dance floor comfort!

What do you think of a wedding reception dress?

You’re My Best Friend

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

You and your fiance see yourselves rocking out on the dance floor. A crooning classic from the Rat Pack just isn’t your style. How about classic…rock?

No, I don’t mean air guitar (unless you feel it is called for).  I mean a sweet, upbeat number from one of the best bands ever, Queen.  Just listening to it brings a smile to my face, and before you know it, you’re swaying to the harmony.

It’s every bit a love song as anything sung by Sinatra. In fact, “You’re My Best Friend” was written by John Deacon, Queen’s bassist, to his wife, Veronica…to whom he is still married!

Map Out Your Wedding Day

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

A wedding in Washington, DC is exciting, and not just for the couple planning the event! Your guests will be thrilled to be invited, and many will make a vacatiWedding Mapperon out of your wedding weekend.

Imagine giving each guest a customized map (including directions) of the whens and wheres of your wedding?  With everyone using smart phones and toting laptops as they travel, having online access to “where to go” and “when to be there” is huge!

I came across Wedding Mapper and thought it was a really practical and cool tool and had to share it.

Users can create a free map that includes the locations of everything going on during their wedding. Couples can also map their favorite restaurants, shopping, attractions, and even where they were engaged. Using Wedding Mapper, you’ll be able share your city and your wedding day at the same time!

Dance Floor Inspiration

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

You know you want to look good for your first dance as a couple on the dance floor. The problem is, when you try to picture your first foray as husband and wife, you draw a blank. Or maybe just the image of the two of you swaying in place is a recurring dream that you just can’t shake.

What you need is a little inspiration to get the creative juices flowing!

I’ve compiled a few images from some couples known to have rocked the dance floor on the silver screen. Before long, you’ll have a song picked out and maybe even have practiced a few steps together.

For more inspiration, check out all our first dances!

Add some vintage vinyl flavor to your favors by creating a playlist for your guests on imitation vinyl CDs by Verbatim. Burn the CDs, then print personalized labels right on your desktop printer. At around $25 for a pack of 50, they’re a great deal and pack a lot of punch in the personality department!

Music Fan

You are planning summer nuptials, a wedding in hot climes, or maybe you simply are worried about your guests being overcome with emotion and in need of cooling down.  Both you and your fiancée love music, so much that you still collect vinyl and revere cover art.

There are tons of damaged album covers out there, all waiting to be used! A clever etsy seller, RadicalRecykes, has come up with paddle fans made of old school, up-cycled album covers! Your guests can keep cool and be cool using them during your sunny outdoor ceremony, and you are helping the environment by keeping unwanted album covers out of a landfill.
