Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Celebrations at the Bay, is a venue perfect for couples wanting a waterfront wedding without traveling across the Bay Bridge.  Standing on the dock, with the water in the background, you truly feel as though you are far away from DC.  Guests have the experience and beauty of a destination wedding that is close to home.  We have deejayed at Celebrations at the Bay many times throughout the years and always look forward to going back!

Fall Wedding at Torpedo Factory Art Center for JeanMarie and Matt

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

The Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town, Alexandria, VA is one of our favorite places for a wedding!  The space is impressive, unique and versatile.  Chris Laich Music Services was fortunate to work with JeanMarie and Matt for their beautiful Fall Wedding at Torpedo Factory Art Center.  Both their ceremony and reception took place at the venue, which is perfectly located on the Old Town Alexandria, VA waterfront.  JeanMarie and Matt’s day was phenomenal thanks to  Marcus Kirk with Marcus Kirk Photography, Avolon Catering, and of course the Torpedo Factory staff

JeanMarie started the day getting ready with her Mother and Bridesmaids.  While Matt hung out with his guys.  We love the jewel toned fall colors and elements she included in her bouquet and with the bridesmaids dresses.

The couple had a sweet ceremony tented outside of the Torpedo Factory.  It was a perfect warm fall night.  So they were able to take advantage of great photo opportunities before starting their party.

The Torpedo Factory looked great for their Fall Wedding.  JeanMarie maintained the look of jewel tones and fall elements on the reception tables, welcome area and her and Matt’s sweet heart table.  Their wedding cake was amazing as well with a custom cake topper of the couple in hiking gear!

The evening started with a welcome toast by the Father of the Bride and one by the Father of the Groom.  It was great to see such warm and loving families coming together!  Following dinner the bride’s sister and Maid of Honor gave a great toast, and then the groom’s brother and Best Man took the floor.

JeanMarie and Matt then took the dance floor for the first time as Husband and Wife to the song “Strawberry Sing” by Coldplay.  Afterwards JeanMarie danced with her father to “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan.  Matt then danced with his mother to “What a Wonderful World” by Luis Armstrong.

JeanMarie, Matt, families and friends all spilled onto the dance floor afterwards to start the dance party.  This crowd got down to hit songs like “Gangham Style”, Calvin Harris’s hit “I feel so close to you right now”, and Marc Anthony’s “Valio La Pena”.

Later in the evening JeanMarie and Matt cut their beautiful wedding cake to “Sugar, Sugar” by The Archies.

Chris Laich Music DJ Set Up, Torpedo Art Factory

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013

The Torpedo Factory Art Center, in Old Town Alexandria, VA is one of the most unique event sites in the area.  It is a Virginia wedding venue we have deejayed many times throughout the years.  Torpedo Factory provides an unconventional event space,  and is  located in the heart of historic Old Town’s Potomac River Waterfront area.

Whether you are planning a casual or formal event, the rich collection of fine arts and crafts displayed throughout the galleries at Torpedo Factory, can lend itself to weddings of many different sizes and styles.  The highlight of this venue is the building itself, “built in 1918 to manufacture torpedoes like the one displayed on the first floor, the award-winning renovation of this striking three-story building retains its identity as a former factory – complete with exposed pipes, ductwork, and smokestack – while taking a magical turn at night.”

Ask anyone in the wedding industry for a contemporary wedding venue, and you’ll be recommended to the Torpedo Factory.  This popular site includes a whimsical spiral sculpture staircase, balcony, and several areas that can be rented.  For “the view” of the Potomac Riverfront, tents can be placed right behind the art center for your ceremony, cocktail hour and more.   With so many options in this great space, it’s important to have the best sound quality throughout the space so we always bring our Bose speakers.  The last thing you want is to be limited by speakers or have tons of wires to take away from the awesome space.

We were there recently for a wedding and took a picture to show how seamlessly our DJ equipment and wireless Bose speakers fit at Torpedo Factory.

A Chic Affair, Washington DC Bridal Show

Monday, April 1st, 2013

On Sunday, March 24th Chris Laich Music Services participated in the wonderful bridal show A Chic Affair.  We were thrilled to join some of the best Washington DC area wedding professionals, as well as provide music (including our Bose wireless speakers and wireless microphones for the event).  The event was hosted at Georgetown’s newest venue  Powerhouse from Rise Events.  Powerhouse is a modern space in the heart of Georgetown; the building is located between the Georgetown Waterfront Park and the M Street shopping area.

A Chic Affair was one of the best bridal events we’ve participated in this year!  It was wonderful to speak one on one with couples and hear about their engagements and planning.  The show included a select group of wedding vendors , a “question-answer” expert panel, a live bridal fashion show, delicious appetizers, cocktails and a gentlemen’s lounge (with beer, hair cuts and more).

Here are some photo highlights from Rodney Bailey.  We always love working with Rodney and his team who were at A Chic Affair to capture everything.

GWU Law SBA Barrister’s Ball at Mellon Auditorium

Monday, March 18th, 2013

This past Friday, March 15th, Chris Laich Music Services provided music for the GWU Law Student Bar Association (SBA) Barrister’s Ball at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.  A thousand guests including law students and dates attended this sold out event.  The Mellon Auditorium is a beautiful Neoclassical building located on Constitution Avenue, NW in Washington, DC.  It is a grand event space, perfect for large weddings and galas.  We had a great time at the Barrister’s Ball for GWU, this fun group enjoyed great food and beverages, and danced the night away!

Here are a few photo recaps.  It’s hard to fully get the picture of the amazing architecture, this space is even more beautiful in person.  We are so thankful to the Mellon Auditorium Event Staff and GWU SBA for having us provide music at the Barrister’s Ball!

Chris Laich Music DJ Set Up, Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

If you are looking for a downtown Washington DC venue with close proximity to the National Mall, area attractions and tons of dining options for out of town guests, then we definitely recommend the Hotel Monaco.  Located in the heart of Penn Quarter/Chinatown, across from the National Portrait Gallery and just blocks from the National Mall, the Hotel Monaco is a landmark hotel that offers luxury, and a blend of historic architecture with contemporary style.

We always look forward to providing our music services at the Hotel Monaco.  As a Kimpton Hotel, The Hotel Monaco provides amazing service, delicious food, and modern amenities.  Highly rated by wedding professionals including the Washingtonian Magazine,  and what we call a “wow” venue, we love that the Hotel Monaco puts high importance on your wedding day.

One of the most beautiful ballrooms, the Hotel Monaco’s “historic Paris Ballroom, created and stylized in the 1860′s” is a grand space to hold your wedding.    ’As the original home of the US Postmaster General’s Library,” the space includes built-in bookcases, full length windows and a “ historically adorned overhead canopy skylight.”  We always provide our wireless Bose speakers, so that we can provide sound throughout the room but not detract with the gorgeous space.

We were there recently for a wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour and reception),and took a couple of photos to show how seamlessly our DJ equipment and wireless Bose speakers fit in the grand Hotel Monaco Ballroom.

The Decatur House on Lafayette Square, which sits across from the White House in downtown Washington, DC offers a beautiful and historic site for your wedding.  It is a DC wedding venue where we have had the pleasure of deejaying  many times throughout the years, and a place we are always excited to go back to!  Couples can check out Decature House this weekend at the Engaged! 2013 Luxury Bridal Event.

Decatur House designed by famous architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe is a National Trust Historic Site owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and operated by the White House Historical Association.   In addition to being a renowned historic site for DC, it has also been recognized for over a decade as one of the top wedding venues by Washingtonian Magazine and Engaged Magazine.  As apart of it’s mission, Decatur House hosts “fine Washington entertaining by offering rental opportunities for receptions, weddings, meetings and parties.”

In it’s classic Washington style, guests have the option to entertain in the outside courtyard surrounded by Decatur’s gardens, in the Carraige House, or in the Decatur House parlors.  Because of it’s elegant and refined atmosphere, the last thing you want are large speakers and bundles of wires everywhere!  So, we always bring our wireless Bose speakers and set them up to ensure they are heard but not a large distraction for pictures!

We were there recently for a wedding and took a few pictures to show how seamlessly our DJ equipment and wireless Bose speakers fit into the Decatur House.
