Washingtonian Starry Night Inaugural Ball

Last night I had the privilege to attend the Washingtonian Inaugural Ball held at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. It was an amazing night with more than 850 guests in attendance. It was great to hang out with fellow wedding professional and great friend Steve from the Edge Floral! As well as to see other wedding industry friends there to provide their services, including Potomac Point Winery, Ridgewells Catering, Rodney Bailey Photography, John Farr Lighting, and more! The delicious dinner included passed hors d’oeuvres, plentiful food stations, and delicious desserts! The night was complete with a full open bar and a fun and lively atmosphere with live music and a lot of dancing.

Wedding at the Westin, Alexandria – Mary and Nicholas

Mary and Nicholas were married October 27, 2012 at The Cathedral of St. Thomas More, Arlington, VA followed by a beautiful reception at the Westin, Alexandria, VA. Wedding DJ - Chris Laich Music Services, photography – Timmester Photography, wedding coordination by White Pumpkin.

The day started with getting ready at the hotel, Hair by Giselle and make-up by Pattie Martin. We love all of the thoughtful details put into their day; from the invitation to flowers by Flower Den. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed great food at the Westin, a lovely and delicious cake from Pastries by Randolph. And of course, great music!

Following the cocktail hour, guests were invited into the ballroom where the father of the bride gave a wonderful welcome speech. Toasts were provided by the Best Man and Maid of Honor. After dinner, Mary and Nicholas cut their wedding cake to “How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You,” by James Taylor. They then danced their first dance to “Hey, There, Everywhere” by The Beatles. Later on, everyone took to the dance floor, which kept moving all night!

Sparkle Lounge 2013 – Ronald Reagan Building

The Ronald Reagan Building’s annual Sparkle Lounge is the perfect opportunity to catch up with wedding industry friends and network with event professionals around the DC region. The event was truly amazing and we were honored to have Chris Laich Music Services provide the music again this year!

The Ronald Reagan’s Atrium Ballroom, which is already a spectacular space, “wowed” guests with the incredible decor, food, champagne and of course great soundtrack! Approximately 1,000 people attended this year. It was great to see people mingling throughout the space.

DC Photographer, Stephen Bobb was there and captured the night with some incredible images. Flowers and decor provided by by Elegance & Simplicty.

Washingtonian Brunch and Bloody’s

On Saturday, October 20th, Chris Laich Music Services had the privilege to DJ the Washingtonian Brunch and Bloody’s event at Longview Gallery in Washington, DC. The sold-out event featured the 50 Great Breakfast and Brunch Spots from Washingtonian. The participating restaurants also competed in a Bloody Mary challenge, in which guests, and a panel of judges (including Washingtonian editors, the Bitches Who Brunch, and local mixologists) voted for their favorite.

This was such a cool event to participate in and a real treat for all the foodies who attended. Guests had a great time trying all of the delicious bite-sized brunch treats and bottomless brunch cocktails, while mixing and mingling. No one left hungry or thirsty!

The “New” Decatur House!

Historic and gracious, The Carriage House at the Decatur House is one of DC’s singular wedding and event venues. We’ve always loved working there. Not only is Decatur House’s Event Manager, Arioth Harrison, amazing to collaborate with, but the space itself is a pleasure! Between the gorgeous courtyard and the Carriage House’s high ceilings, it’s pretty extraordinary.

In May, the Decatur House completed a renovation of the Carriage House and its courtyard event spaces. If we thought the space was killer before, now it’s fantastic! They’ve added a bit more capacity and have updated finishes, décor and the audio-visual systems.

Westin Georgetown – Wedding DJ Equipment Set-Up

On Georgetown’s illustrious M Street and within shouting distance of the Kennedy Center, the Westin Georgetown is one of DC’s finest luxury retreats and a wonderful wedding venue.

Known for their fabulous, airy courtyard, the Westin Georgetown also boasts a sophisticated ballroom, stylish promenade and, from what we’ve heard, a sumptuous honeymoon suite. So, it’s no wonder that, as wedding deejays, Chris Laich Music Services is at the Westin Georgetown quite a bit!

Capitol Hilton – Wedding DJ Equipment Set-Up

Boasting an elegant grand ballroom and just two blocks from the White House, the Capitol Hilton is wonderful for a wedding! Not only does its location mean you can get all those great wedding shots in front of one of DC’s most iconic landmarks, your guests will be able to see the sights, too.

Plus, there’s that legendary Hilton service.

You’d think that setting up our speakers and equipment in a classic ballroom like the Capitol Hilton’s would be simple. But in such a large space, we need to be extra cognizant of the volume. We don’t want some guests wishing they’d brought earplugs while others strain to hear the Maid of Honor’s speech!

By strategically placing our wireless Bose speakers throughout the ballroom, we’re able to provide consistent, balanced sound without affecting ambiance (as seen below).

The Willard Hotel – Wedding Ceremony DJ Equipment Set Up

The Willard Intercontinental Hotel has hosted almost every US president since 1853…and thousands of weddings. As many times as Chris Laich Music Services has been, a wedding there always knocks our socks off.

Especially the Crystal Room – those incredible pillars and crystal chandeliers are just spectacular! For large weddings, it’s ideal for hosting a ceremony and cocktail hour, and, happily, we’re asked to provide sound and musical ambiance for both.

The trick to preserving the space’s charm and maintaining the operational fluidity required for turning a ceremony into a cocktail hour lies in experience. Strathmore Music Center – Wedding Ceremony DJ Equipment Set Up

Sleek and beautiful, Strathmore’s Music Center is a pretty spectacular place to get married!

In fine (and not so fine) weather, ceremonies are often conducted outdoors beside the concert hall itself. The gleaming windows on the outside of the structure and Strathmore’s surrounding garden create a visually arresting vista.

No way we want our speakers and equipment, which are necessary for vows to be heard, to interfere with such a special venue! So, as you can see below, we strategically place our wireless Bose speakers to provide unobtrusive, flawless ceremony coverage.
