Washington DC DJ 2011 Bride’s Choice Winner!

We’re thrilled to announce that Chris Laich Music Services has won the 2011 Bride’s Choice Award from Wedding Wire! Achieving a Bride’s Choice award is a particular honor, since it’s exactly that: we were voted the best DJ in the Washington, DC area by our clients.

After a year in which we were recognized by Washingtonian Bride & Groom and The Knot as the best Wedding DJ in the DC area by our clients and peers, Wedding Wire’s Bride’s Choice award is icing on the cake. At Chris Laich Music Services, our clients always come first, and it’s so gratifying to know we’re hitting the mark. We promise to work even harder to make 2011/2012 just as amazing!

So, a huge thank you to all our wonderful clients and congratulations to the other 2011 Bride’s Choice winners!

2011 Washington Bride & Groom Unveiled Event

Honored with Washingtonian Bride & Groom’s “Top Vote Getter” in the DJ category for 2010, all of us at Chris Laich Music Services couldn’t wait for Unveiled 2011, Bride & Groom’s annual wedding showcase!

Without question, the event lived up to its reputation as the premier bridal event in DC. The Vera Wang show was just beautiful, and the area’s top wedding professionals did a fantastic job providing couples with advice and inspiration. Everything from the marvelous confections by Kendall’s Cakes (another “Top Vote Getter”) to the event design displayed by A. Dominick Events and Beehive Events was really spectacular.

We were thrilled with how the Chris Laich Music Services lounge turned out! Complete with cozy seating area and flat screen TV displaying our new montage video, it was the perfect setting to chat with couples who stopped by.

The Mic Sounds Nice

As a wedding DJ, you have to love music, people, and be a little bit of an equipment geek, and we have that in spades!

Chris Laich Music Services is the only wedding DJ in the Washington, DC area to pair the premium sound delivery through wireless Bose speakers with a killer microphone – the Shure KSM9.

We knew the mics we have are the best around, but it wasn’t until flipping through Entertainment Weekly that we realized how good.

If you look closely, 70% of the performers in the images are using the same exact mic Chris uses. It must be decent if some of the best singers in the world have chosen it!

Chris Laich DJ Set Up, Meridian House Washington DC

The Meridian House sits right off 16th Street, but you could drive down 16th every day for years and miss it! Secluded and grand while still being gracious, it’s one of our favorite wedding venues in Washington, DC at which to deejay. A handsome limestone façade, high ceilings, sweeping staircase, and a beautiful, high walled garden, you almost feel as if you’ve been transported to someplace in Europe, especially in the elegant Linden Grove. Of course, all that stone and marble can play around with the acoustics!

When Chris Laich Music Services is the DJ for a Meridian House wedding, we pack up all our equipment and a bag of tricks to make sure our clients and their guests have the best sound without all the less-than-attractive cables, wires, and huge speakers on stands.

We carefully set up our wireless Bose speakers and make sure that everything blends seamlessly with the environment without affecting sound quality.

For All Occassions Wedding Planning

Planning a wedding in the Washington, DC area (or any area, for that matter) is no easy task. Managing wedding vendors, timelines, and contracts, not to mention all the other everyday obligations…it can become overwhelming.

Which is why you hire a wonderful, organized, creative wedding planner like Myrna of For All Occasions Events. One of Wedding Wire’s 2010 Bride’s Choice winners, Myrna has been planning events since she lived in Miami. When she moved to Northern Virginia in 2001, she opened For All Occasions. Though her company began as a invitation business, her love of weddings and event planning soon inspired her to expand her business, and after becoming a certified planner at Weddings Beautiful Worldwide, she has been helping couples organize their weddings ever since.

Myrna is also a newlywed herself…well, a renewlywed. Joined by friends and family, including her two grown boys, wonderful daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren, Myrna recently re-married her husband, Paul, this June!

We had a chance to catch up with Myrna and ask her a little about being a planner and her work with DC area couples.

If you could shout something from the rooftops about For All Occasions what would it be?

We take excellent care of all of our clients; whether their wedding is large or small, no matter what budget, or what type of planning or coordinating service they choose. This is all because Weddings are Our Passion!!!!!

What part of your piece of the wedding day or wedding planning process do you love most?

I enjoy most the times I can be creative and offer my clients design and decor tips and make their wedding speak about them…being involved in the planning process from the beginning is so much fun and allows the creative touches to flow!

If you could have any other job for a day, what would it be?

If I could have another position in the industry, I would love to sing in a band.

What are some trends you are seeing?

Clients are going for smaller weddings and working with smaller budgets, as well as doing more things themselves.

Is there an event or style of wedding you’re dying to plan?

I have planned a lot of weddings in my years, but I would love to be able to do more beach weddings, especially in the winter!!!!

Chris Laich Music DJ Set Up, Woodend Mansion

The Woodend Mansion, owned by the Audubon Naturalist Society, in Bethesda, MD is a Maryland wedding venue we’ve deejayed at many times over the years, but we never get tired of how pretty it is!

Near the bustle of downtown Bethesda, Woodend is a hidden jewel. Tucked into grounds that in warmer months is positively sylvan, the mansion is a gracious retreat and perfect for weddings! If the weather is fine, ceremonies are held in an enchanting grove on the grounds, with cocktails and dinner served on the terrace or within the mansion.

In such a bucolic setting, the last thing you want are large speakers and bundles of wires everywhere! So, we always bring our wireless Bose speakers and set them up to ensure they are heard and not seen at Woodend!

We were there recently for a wedding and took a few pictures to show how seamlessly our DJ equipment and wireless Bose speakers fit into Woodend Mansion’s natural environment and elegant rooms.

Washingtonian Bride & Groom: Unveiled 2011!

If there’s one “must go to” wedding showcase in Washington, DC, it’s the Washingtonian Bride & Groom magazine’s “Unveiled” event, and we’re not just saying that because Chris Laich Music Services will be there!

Couples have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with wedding professionals in an intimate and elegant setting while sampling the Park Hyatt’s award-winning cuisine, wedding desserts and cocktails. Ashley and Tom’s first dance as husband and wife was to “Sea Breeze” by Tyrone Wells…and then the party got started! It was a super fun crowd, and everyone had a blast (as you can see) dancing to a good mix of Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Wilson Pickett, Michael, Madonna, Billy Idol, Rob Base, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry!

We were lucky we had a few minutes before the wedding to snap the photos you saw earlier this week of the set-up – it gave us a chance to see Tom and Ashley’s flowers from The Enchanted Florist. They were totally amazing. The Enchanted Florist really is one of the best wedding florists in DC!
